GARY GUZZO:
VP MARKETING & PUBLICITY
“American Horrors is the face
of Horror for the 21st Century – and Hart Fisher is the right guy
to merge horror, music, television, and graphic storytelling into true
multimedia entertainment."
- Gary Guzzo, VP Marketing and Publicity
Gary Guzzo comes to American Horrors by way of the music and comic
book industry. A music and event promoter who evolved with an impressive
reputation for staging dynamic trade show exhibits, Guzzo has still
always stuck close to his love of storytelling.
As a fan he attended some of the legendary NY Comic Art Conventions,
sitting for hours with legendary creators from Vaughn Bode to Jack
Kirby. In later years, he became an Advisor to the Overstreet Guide
to Comics – the bible in the world of comic book collecting, as well
as the owner of Amazing Tales Comics in NY.
During this time, Guzzo's connetion to the music and entertainment
industry began, from early years as a radio announcer, professional
sound man, recording studio engineer and concert promoter. What began
as simple concert production and staging turned into a profession,
eventually establishing a crack live production team noted for being
able to promote and stage anything, anywhere. Attention to his teams'
abilities became noted and the company grew from a music procution
company to staging corporate events and trade show exhibits. His
International Video Corp focused for years on the computer industry,
staging trade show events and exhibits for such companies as IBM,
Apple, Microsoft and Ziff Davis. After years of living on the road,
Guzzo sold his share in the company and looked to the next horizon
deciding to take some time and focus on Comics following the sale
of Amazing Tales.
In 1992 his interests merged when Marvel Comics asked him to setup
a relief program for Hurricane Andrew, which resulted in him joining
Marvel as their Director of Publicity. After years with Marvel,
Guzzo continued to consult to the industry at Lorne Michael’s Broadway
Comics, and then with music industry associate Steve Massarsky who
asked Gary to come back ‘one more time’ to comics to help with a
relaunch of Acclaim Comics.
Needing a break from the industry, Gary and his wife, former Marvel
Production Manager Dawn Guzzo, moved to the coast of Maine in 1999
and have run Atomic Studios, a graphic design, web development, and
marketing agency focusing on Maine Tourism.
After what the Guzzos call their ‘ten year honeymoon’ in Maine,
they began looking for a project to take them back into the creative
fold. They found that project with long time associate Hart D. Fisher’s
American Horrors.
“I met Hart years ago at a comic con when I was working for Marvel,
and we hit it off. He was breaking down walls and taking the shots
that come from doing that - something that was rare in that industry,
and something I had a lot of respect for. I thought then that 'this
was a guy who is for real', and that we were going to see big things
from Hart Fisher one day. We reconnected through one of the business
networks online and sure enough, I was right. American Horrors is
the face of Horror for the 21st Century – and Hart is the right guy
to merge horror, music, television, and graphic storytelling into
true multimedia entertainment. American Horrors is going to cross
a lot of media, a lot of genres and a lot of demographics. It's almost
like the world is going to catch up with Hart D. Fisher.”
The Guzzos continue to work for American Horrors from their heavily
fortified compound, in an undisclosed location on the coast of Maine.
